Have you ever wanted to climb through ancient temple ruins and recover hidden treasures like Indiana Jones or Lara Croft? A VR game wants to give you the chance to do just that.

Celeritas Games doesn’t shy away from big names: With the announced VR game Tomb Explorer VR, the development studio wants to bring iconic adventure experiences in the style of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider to virtual reality – whip and bow included.

Follow in the VR footsteps of Lara Croft

You slip into the role of a newly minted archaeologist eager to earn his first spurs as an adventurer. Deep in the Peruvian jungle, you explore ancient temple ruins and hidden tombs.

Searching for historical treasures and relics, you’ll descend dungeons, zip across deep canyons, avoid treacherous traps, and solve environmental puzzles in the style of Lara Croft. Climbing passages in dizzying VR heights like in Horizon Call of the Mountain are also not to be missed.

Kickstarter campaign to fund VR adventure

According to the developers, iconic Egyptian tombs will find their way into the game, as well as Inca temples. Of course, the iconic adventurer’s whip won’t be missing from the arsenal of weapons you’ll use to fend off wild animals and other dangers. Bow and arrow and Croft’s twin pistols also make an appearance.

You should not expect an elaborate story with unpredictable twists from Tomb Explorer VR. Nor should you expect a technical masterpiece à la Half-Life: Alyx. Celeritas Games is a small Canadian indie studio consisting of the brothers Claudiusz and Olaf Dudek, who have only realized small VR productions so far.

Tomb Explorer VR will be funded through Kickstarter. If you want to support the project, you can follow the campaign from May 29. You can already get a first impression of the VR adventure with the free demo on SteamVR. You can find the links in the source code.
